Someone’s first impression of you is the feeling he or she experiences as a result of his or her initial evaluation of you. It is the mental image a person forms after their first encounter with you. It is the judgement someone makes of you within 7 seconds after meeting you. Others will use these first impressions to decide whether they should approach or avoid you.
Even when being presented with opposing evidence, others will rely on their first impressions of you. Your profile pic should reflect your personality, it should reflect who you are. If you are a happy-go-lucky person, don’t choose a picture where you look serious, for instance. It is important to choose a pic where someone can actually have a clear view of you, and where there are no other distractions in the picture. Don’t choose a pic of you on the boat with the big fish that you caught…., for instance.
